Cancer incidence in Croatia 2009, Bulletin No. 34

Bulletin No. 34 contains the Registry data quality indicators. They are: percentage of histologically confirmed cases; percentage of cases recorded based on death certificates only (DCO); death-new case ratios for males and females, number of new cancer cases by sex and cancer sites for the 2004-2008 period; number of cases, percentage and rates of incidence (crude and age-standardized per European and world populations) and cumulative rates for the most common cancer sites in 2008; incidence (absolute number and rate) of malignant neoplasms (except skin cancer) for Croatia by sex, age, primary site, cancer stage at the time of diagnosis, as well as the incidence of the most common cancer sites by county and sex, and the incidence of the most common cancer sites (absolute number) by town of residence and sex.

In coding the diagnoses, we used the International Classification of Diseases, Injuries and Causes of Death, Xth Revision (ICD-10). The calculation of incidence (new case) rates for Croatia’s population was based on the Croatian population census 2001.
